OUR EDITORIAL STANDARD

THE REPLAY COMES
WITH RECEIPTS.

A strong opinion is better when you can show your working.

01

Start with the original.

We seek original footage, official results, published rules and first-hand statements. Secondary reporting is identified as such. Links sit beside the story, where readers can check them.

02

Keep the context in the frame.

We identify the date, competition and relevant circumstances. A cropped clip can raise a question; it does not always answer it. NBA and European competitions are assessed under their own applicable rules.

03

Separate evidence from our take.

Reporting, explanation, opinion and humour are different kinds of content. We make the distinction clear and do not turn an uncertain angle into a confident verdict.

04

Make Europe part of the main story.

EuroLeague and selected domestic leagues have a permanent place in our coverage. We explain competitions and stakes for readers arriving from either side of the Atlantic.

05

Correct the page, visibly.

A substantive correction receives a dated note on the article explaining what changed. We also correct linked video descriptions or social posts when they carry the same error. Minor spelling fixes may be made without a formal notice.

06

Respect the source material.

We use original graphics and commentary, and credit external sources. Footage is selected only when its intended use is permitted. Linking to a video or adding credit does not itself provide permission to republish it.
