Europe is not a side note.
EuroLeague nights. Domestic rivalries. Different stakes. One permanent place in our coverage.
A basketball story can begin anywhere.
A great pass in Europe is a great pass. It does not need a scouting report, a draft projection or a former NBA player to make it interesting. BasketRewind will cover European basketball on its own terms: the competition, the rivalry, the tactical adjustment and what the result means to the people in the arena.
The NBA will be a major part of our week. Across the Atlantic gives European basketball a regular home alongside it.
Start with the right competition.
European club basketball has several stages. Euroleague Basketball runs EuroLeague and EuroCup. FIBA's European club competition landscape includes the Basketball Champions League and FIBA Europe Cup. These names are not interchangeable.
Domestic competitions add another layer. Spain's ACB, Germany's Basketball Bundesliga and Poland's PLK each have their own schedules, standings and stories. When we cover a game, we will name the competition and explain the stakes. No reader should need a second browser tab just to work out which table matters.
Follow the possession. Explain the setting.
Our starting point is the same on either side of the Atlantic: what happened, why it mattered, and which detail is worth seeing again. We will look for team ideas, coaching decisions, player development and the little adjustments that make a familiar action work.
We will cover domestic leagues selectively, following stories we can explain properly. That leaves room for the title race and the local rivalry, the established contender and the team someone outside its country should finally notice.
The context travels with the clip.
Source pages will point to official competition information, box scores or original statements when those support a story. We will identify the rules in use before judging a whistle and date our reporting when formats or regulations can change.
Different leagues give us more basketball to understand. That is a very good problem to have.
